Between The Cracks - This Saturday

‘Where do we go now?’ are the cries of the party harders and crack-a-jackers desperately wandering the streets of East End London every Saturday night as they try to find a free late night place to dance. On Saturday 26 July they will get their answer because Warboy is having a one-off free party to launch his new solo club project Between The Cracks at The Macbeth.

The East End has been begging for a new late night Saturday party offering the best in new dance music and with Warboy’s proven track record for providing groundbreaking and interesting nights at All You Can Eat this new venture promises to gratify.

This man certainly knows how to make the bass rumble having DJed at some of East London’s most progressive dance music nights over the past few years, including Trailer Trash, Batty Bass, Get Rude and Wet Yourself. His DJ residencies at Foreign and Calling All Tribes, and previously at Anti-Social (RIP), make him well equipped to get people dancing.

He will be joined by three of the UK’s most talented up and coming DJ producers: Matt Cox whose tracks are ripping through dancefloors (check out his dirty remix of Kelevra & KC’s Bring It Back); Urchins - two guys that play regularly at Mixmag’s Number One club Moda and are about to have releases on Potty Mouth Music; and Si Edkins, one of Shoreditch’s local new talents.

As everything keeps shifting and breaking down into smaller and smaller fragments there is no point lamenting the past or trying to find the answer in a superficial veneer. There is no neon beacon to guide the way, it’s time to dare and go beyond the fragmented shards of glass, amongst the shitty grime and empty, discarded K-bags – there you’ll find us dancing with the cockroaches and the Wombles – Between The Cracks.

Expect to find an eclectic and interesting crowd of dressed up crack pots, dressed down geeks, booty biatches and art-housers all coming together to explore Between The Cracks.

The flyer is utilising the new QR codes that you need to scan with your mobile phone (download software free from the net) to convert it into information. Look out for the Between The Cracks posters and stickers that will be popping up across London over the next few months to discover details about the future parties.

Shoot For The Stars - 17 July

Shoot comes crashing into its middle-age, like a tired and emotional soap star, with Shoot the Stars, an examination of celebrity, fame and the shameless self-promotion of Generation X-Factor.

From the A list to the Z list, nobody is content with their fifteen minutes anymore. Our televisions heave with wannabe pop stars, actors, and fame junkies, so green with envy at the pampered lives of the rich and famous you’d swear they were under the lime light already.

Britain has become one huge Celebrity Love Island, obsessed with the banal minutia of other people’s lives which we’re told are more beautiful, more glamorous, more worthy than our own, till the fickle wind of fame blows them down. But in the world of reality TV hope springs eternal. If she can be famous, why can’t I too? You only have to see the plethora of would be presenters and hopefuls doing their thing on YouTube.

Despite what you might have seen on your screens, however, Britain has got talent and Shoot gathers it together in a venue fittingly called The Star.

As well as London’s fastest rising girl about town Jodie Harsh presenting a video piece with Bourgeois & Maurice there will be contributions from an array of artists gazing through the celebrity mirror.

Superstar DJs Alex Warren and Kat Heath join residents Warboy and Hey Joe for the bass heavy backdrop to get your head rocking harder than Gillian Taylforth in a motorway lay-by.

In tribute to the godfather of modern celebrity, we invite you to shine too. Control the music during Fifteen Minutes of iPod Fame before taking your turn dressing up in the I Shot Andy Warhol Relay and receive a free shot that’s guaranteed to hit you in the chest.

The Shoot roaming reporter will also be news-flashing through the night to make sure everyone is kept up to date with the tittle tattle as it unfolds.

Come dressed for the red carpet or that fallen from grace mug-shot. But be sure to make an impression when you’re here because there’s only one thing worse than being talked about. And that’s not being talking about.

Shoot To Kill - New Mix

Check out the new mix of Shoot To Kill featuring Lippy Lou on my Myspace profile. I was in the studio yesterday and had it mixed by the all round talented DJ/ producer/ engineer Ed Kane. It's a lot beefier!!
